Weifang Port, Shandong Port: The Petroleum Coke Distribution Base Was Completed and Four Domestic and Foreign Container Shipping Routes Were Opened

On April 27th, Weifang Port, Shandong Port witnessed the successful launching ceremony of Bohai Bay Petroleum Coke Distribution Base of Aluminum Corporation of China Limited (hereinafter referred to as “Chinalco”) and the inauguration of 4 domestic and foreign container routes.

It is understood that Chinalco Bohai Bay Petroleum Coke Distribution Base is the first port petroleum coke distribution base established by Chinalco, serving international and domestic petroleum coke distribution business of Chinalco, which is expected to bring more than 200,000 tons of petroleum coke for Weifang Port every year and increase business income by 6 million yuan.

The launch of the distribution base can drive the upstream and downstream enterprises of the industry to gather in Weifang Port, enrich the customer system of the port, greatly enhance the popularity of Weifang Port and lay a solid foundation for Bohai Bay Port to build an important petroleum coke blending distribution base in China.

"The petroleum coke base will rely on the advantages of the port to integrate domestic and international petroleum coke resources to meet customer needs and enhance influence by expanding market effects so as to achieve multiple wins for Chinalco Materials, Bohai Bay Port and other partners."  Yang Jiaqi, president of Chinalco Materials said.

At the same time, four domestic and foreign container shipping routes, "Weifang-Japan", "Weifang-Jinzhou", "Weifang-Longkou" and "Weifang-Shouguang". The number of container shipping routes of Weifang Port has increased to 11, which further improves the layout of routes connecting the main ports of Bohai Sea and Yellow Sea with Weifang Port as the base, connecting the Bohai Economic Circle to the north and southeast coast and Pan-Pearl River Delta Economic Circle to the south. These routes will accelerate the pace of Weifang Port to enter the ranks of the main coastal ports of the country and enhance the role of Weifang Port in Northeast Asia,  helping regional economic growth and expanding foreign trade.

The opening of "Weifang-Japan" route has realized the zero breakthrough in foreign container business of Weifang port, and strengthened the import and export trade between Shandong and Japan. It marks another important initiative of Weifang port to implement the Belt and Road Initiatives and serve the economic development along the Yellow River Basin. It provides a more convenient and economic logistics channel for the import and export of goods in the central and western regions of Shandong, and will reduce the logistics cost for customers by 20% compared with the secondary transit transportation mode. It is estimated that the annual foreign trade container throughput will increase by 15,000 TEUs.

In the next step, Weifang Port, Shandong Port, will continue to follow the integration reform and development of Shandong ports, focus on the efficient development of the main industries  at port and accelerate the upgrading of the scale of traditional industries. While expanding and strengthening the terminal loading and unloading business, it will actively draw support from the business advantages of various plate companies in Shandong Port, speed up joint ventures and cooperation, continuously expand new business forms, open up new economic growth points, thus making greater contributions to the high-quality development of Bohai Bay Port and the building of Shandong Port into an international shipping hub in Northeast Asia.
