Under the environment of low-carbonization transformation, the listing of low-sulfur fuel oil futures contracts meets the development needs of China's ship fuel supply industry in time, which is beneficial for shipping enterprises and ship fuel supply companies to actively use low-sulfur fuel oil futures contracts for hedging. It will better meet the risk management needs of fuel oil industry chain enterprises and enhance the pricing discourse power of China's bonded ship fuel industry.

Low-sulfur fuel oil futures are the third international futures after crude oil and glue No.20 listed on the energy market in the previous period. Low-sulfur fuel oil is currently the main fuel for ships sailing in the world. Proceeding from the actual situation of the industry and in line with market changes, the Shanghai Futures Exchange launched low-sulfur fuel oil futures in due course and fully introduced the participation of overseas traders. This will help promote the low-sulfur fuel oil industry to form a reasonable pricing mechanism, gradually form an influential international pricing center, and provide open, continuous and transparent price signals and effective risk management tools for domestic and overseas industrial enterprises.

低硫燃料油期货是继原油、20号胶之后在上期能源上市的第三个国际化期货品种。低硫燃料油是目前国际航行船舶的主要燃料，上期所从产业实际出发，顺应市场变化，适时推出了低硫燃料油期货，全面引入境外交易者参与，有利于促进低硫燃料油行业形成合理的定价机制，逐渐形成具有影响力的国际定价中心，为境内外产业企业提供公开、连续、透明的价格信号和有效的风险管理工具。
