Geographical location and climate conditions

The Port of Tripoli (TRIPOLI) is located on the northwest coast of Libya, on the southern side of the Mediterranean Sea. It is the largest seaport in Libya. The port is an ancient city with a history of more than 3,000 years. It was an important trade center and strategic location in ancient times. It is now the capital of Libya and the center of politics, economy, culture and transportation in the country. Transportation is mainly by road, which can be connected to the national road network. The port area has 20 main berths, with a shoreline of 3,354 meters and a maximum water depth of about 10 meters. The loading and unloading equipment includes various shore cranes, truck cranes, floating cranes, barges , tugboats and roll-on/roll-off facilities, among which the maximum lifting capacity of the floating crane is 200 tons.

The port area has a warehouse area of about 150,000 square meters. The port's channel has a lighthouse beacon with radar and reflectors. It is easy and safe to enter the port under normal weather conditions. Generally, ships can sail during the day. They are not allowed to enter the port after dark, except by special arrangement. The water depth of the anchorage for large ships is up to 38m.
