According to data released by the Ministry of Transport, domestic trade generated 673.01 million tons in cargo throughput at Chinese ports the first half of 2019, up 7.3% year-on-year. Foreign trade generated 2113.52 million tons in cargo throughput, up 2.5% year on year. Meanwhile, container throughput totaled 126.99 million TEU, up 5.1% year-on-year.
The top 10 ports in terms of cargo throughput are Ningbo-Zhoushan Port, Shanghai Port, Tangshan Port, Guangzhou Port, Qingdao Port, Suzhou Port, Tianjin Port, Rizhao Port, Yantai Port and Dalian Port. Among them, Ningbo-Zhoushan Port, with a throughput of 557.96 million tons, became the only port that passed the 500 million ton threshold in the first half of the year.
Shanghai Port, the second largest port, handled 55.68 million tons of cargo in June and 333.5 million tons in the first half of the year, down 0.7% year-on-year.
Yantai Port became the fastest growing port in the top 10 with a growth rate of 13.8%, handling 193.46 million tons of cargo since the beginning of the year. Shandong Province also boasts Qingdao Port and Rizhao Port, ranked 5th and 8th respectively. Qingdao Port completed a total of 281.53 million tons in the first half, up 8.3% year-on-year, while Rizhao Port completed a total of 228.69 million tons, up 2.6% year on year. On July 9, Qingdao Port and Weihai Port announced a merger, a key step in the ongoing port integration project in Shandong Province.
In terms of container throughput, the top 10 ports are Shanghai Port (No.1), Ningbo-Zhoushan Port (No.2), Shenzhen Port (No.3), Guangzhou Port (No.4), Qingdao Port (No.5), Tianjin Port (No.6), Xiamen Port (No.7), Dalian Port (No.8), Suzhou Port (river port) (No.9) and Yingkou Port (No.10).
Shanghai Port completed 21.54 million TEU in the first half of the year, up 5.0% year-on-year. Throughput at the Yangshan Phase IV Terminal increased significantly, rising from 600,000 TEU in the same period last year to over 1.5 million TEU, up nearly 160%. According to the 2019 Global Top20 Container Port Forecast Report released by the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Shanghai Port will maintain the top position in the world with a throughput of 43.6 million to 44 million TEU in 2019, with an annual growth rate of 4.2% to 5.1%.
Qingdao Port ranked 5th with 10.3 million TEU, up 9.8% year-on-year, the largest increase on the list. When Qingdao Port returned to A-share listing, the deputy general manager of COSCO Shipping Group Huang Xiaowen said that they would support Qingdao Port’s development as a shareholder and make it their “home base” in China. With the shipping giant’s support, Qingdao Port’s position as a container hub in north China may be consolidated further.
Also worthy of attention is Tianjin Port. In 2019, cargo throughput of Tianjin Port has stopped declining and container throughput has achieved stable growth. Under the leadership of Chu Bin, new vigor has been inserted into Tianjin Port’s leadership. The current stage of development has seen the three major terminals of Dongtudi achieve equity integration, while integration of the three container terminals of Euroasia International, Alliance International and Pacific International remain unclear. The integration will involve equity interests of many Chinese and foreign port operators, like Maersk, COSCO Shipping Port and PSA, so it may take time to progress.
In the top 10 list, only Dalian Port and Yingkou Port experienced decline, handling 4.36 million TEU and 2.81 million TEU respectively, constituting a year-on-year decline of 9.6% and 10% respectively.
2019全国港口半年成绩单出炉!
交通运输部日前发布的全国港口货物、集装箱吞吐量数据显示,今年上半年,各大港口货物吞吐量累计完成67301万吨,同比增长7.3%;外贸货物吞吐量累计完成211352万吨,同比增长2.5%;集装箱吞吐量累计完成12699万国际标准箱,同比增长5.1%。
上半年货物吞吐量排名前十的港口分别是:宁波舟山港、上海港、唐山港、广州港、青岛港、苏州港、天津港、日照港、烟台港、大连港。其中,宁波舟山港以55796万吨的吞吐量,成为唯一一个半年货物吞吐量破5亿吨的港口。
排名第二的上海港六月吞吐量为5568万吨,上半年共计完成货物吞吐量33349万吨,同比下降0.7%。
烟台港以13.8%的同比增幅成为排名前十中增速最快的港口,自年初累计完成19346万吨。此外,山东省还有青岛港、日照港分别位列第5与第8。青岛港上半年共计完成28153万吨,同比增长8.3%;日照港上半年共计完成22869万吨,同比增长2.6%。7月9日,青岛港与威海港宣告合并,山东省港口整合走出关键一步。
2019年上半年全国集装箱吞吐量中,排名前十的分别为:上海港(第1)、宁波舟山港(第2)、深圳港(第3)、广州港(第4)、青岛港(第5)、天津港(第6)、厦门港(第7)、大连港(第8)、苏州港(内河)(第9)、营口港(第10)。
上海港半年集装箱完成2154万TEU,同比增幅5.0%,其中洋山四期码头吞吐量增幅明显。在智能化和自动化24小时不间断的作业模式下,上半年,洋山四期集装箱吞吐量由去年同期的60多万标箱增长至150多万标箱,同比增长近160%。据中国科学院日前发布的《2019年全球Top20集装箱港口预测报告》显示,今年上海港将以4360万至4400万标箱的吞吐量维持全球第一的位置,并有4.2%至5.1%的同比增幅。
青岛港以1030万TEU排名第5,同比增长9.8%,为前十中增幅最大。在青岛港回归A股上市之际,中远海运集团副总经理黄小文曾表示,中远海运集团将以股东身份支持青岛港发展,会将青岛港视为“国内母港”。有船公司加持,青岛港在北方的集装箱枢纽港地位或将进一步巩固。
还有值得关注的是天津港,2019年天津港的货物吞吐量止住下跌颓势,集装箱吞吐量实现稳定增长。在褚斌带领下的天津港,领导班子得到进一步充实。根据目前发展状态,天津港东突堤三大码头已经实现股权整合,剩下欧亚国际、联盟国际、太平洋国际三家集装箱码头整合还未见分晓。由于其涉及马士基、中远海运港口、PSA等多家中外港口运营商股权,后续整合还待静观其变。
排名前十中,仅大连港与营口港出现同比下降,其上半年吞吐量分别为436万TEU与281万TEU,同比增幅分别为-9.6%与-10%。
